The logos of these organisations try to distill much of the challenges and issues surrounding Aid and Development.

The installation presents a selection of real and imaginary logos, all in the same format. By not revealing which is true or fake, the idea is to introduce an element of doubt to the viewer, to create a temporary sense of limbo and encourage them to re-engage and re-assess all of the logos and maybe reveal a kind of inherent absurdity.

LOGOS OF NON-PROFIT ORGANISATIONS WORKING IN KENYA (SOME OF WHICH ARE IMAGINARY)

The NGO sector in Kenya plays a significant, and symbolically important role within the country and the region. Nevertheless, issues of 'Charity', 'Development' and 'Aid' are neither straightforward, nor without a certain set of problems. What are the criteria for 'development'? What are the motivations behind the organisations working in this field? What set of power relations does this foster. etc.

This is not a homogenous industry. It involves many disparate organisations, yet there seems to be a coherent aesthetic.
